Ways To Maximize Your New Year Holidays In Reno

The Biggest Little City in the World can turn out to be a winter wonderland when the snow flies. From staying in a luxury motel in Reno to ice skating Downtown and skiing in the mountains to shopping in Midtown and Christmas on the Comstock, the Reno area has a large number of things to do for the holidays. A lot of casinos all over the region come to life with decorations, family and music events, and of course, a plenty of food at the casino buffets.

Conventional events such as the Nutcracker ballet are held at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Reno and carols can be heard in the historic town of Genoa.

When it comes to adults, they can simply play dress up during the Reno Santa Pub Crawl along the Truckee River and under the Reno Arch. On the other side, all family members can go ice skating at the Rink on the River at the Greater Nevada Field. If you have got kids along and they would just like to play in the snow, do not miss to take them up to Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. It is the nearest ski resort to the city where you can do a few turns on the bunny hill.

Tahoe Meadows is just up the mountain where some of the best sledding in the region can be enjoyed for free. Simply pick up a sled and look for the snow covered hills.

ü  Town of Genoa

Located just 1.5 hours from Kramer’s Midtown, a boutique Downtown Reno motel, the Town of Genoa is the best place that you can visit during winter season. The town has seen a lot of history and much of it is still in evidence in its historic buildings. It is a relaxing getaway from the city and is popularly known to be home to the annual Candy Dance. It is tucked into the foothills of Sierra and you can do a plenty of things here in December.

During the holidays, Genoa celebrates with an official tree lighting and customary caroling in the streets.

ü  Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts

Situated right in the middle of Downtown Reno, the gold dome of the Pioneer Center of Performing Arts has been designed by a student of Buckminster Fuller. It features a variety of performances from opera and ballet to Broadway plays such as Annie and Rent to Riverdale and Blue Man Group. You can purchase tickets at very reasonable prices.

The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts puts on the Nutcracker and the Spirit of the Season concerts during the holidays. However, you need to keep in mind that even though this place is casual, the visitors will dress in business casual for evening events.

In addition to the abovementioned places to visit and things to do, do not miss to explore Virginia City for Christmas on the Comstock and Downtown area for Greater Nevada Field. Make sure to book your room for rent in Nevada and maximize your New Year holidays!
